Episode 009 – How to make sustainable behavior change
It’s getting close to the new year, which means people start to think about setting new goals and changing behavior. In episode 9, I talk about effective strategies to make sustainable, long-term behavior change that becomes part of your lifestyle, rather than just setting a goal that often is quickly discarded.
» Behavior change is very personalized, however there are effective strategies to implement when seeking to change a behavior.
» Focusing on the journey and not the actual end result, while having the end result in mind can be helpful, setting your eyes on each step by making your goal an actual behavior rather an a result, is a great strategy for creating long-term behavior changes.
» Environment is key. Set yourself up for success. That saying “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail” is so true. Create an environment that is conducive to your success in making a change.
» Another great tool you can use to change a behavior SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time (how often)
